Biggest Scam in Britain?
Imagine someone being asked to pay thousands of pounds a year, in return for something which provides no noticeable benefits. Not to them, not to society. Sounds pretty stupid, but we're good at falling for thin promises that have no reality. Whether its the latest miracle drug or wonder diet, too many people are all too willing to throw money at anyone with a vague story and unproven results.
And the biggest scam of all is private schooling. Every scrap of evidence shows that paying for school does nothing to improve the child's results. Yet thousands of people spend thousands of pounds in the hope of doing just that. If there's a bigger scam, I'm struggling to think of it.
