Non-Smokers' Rights

Picture this : You're in a nice restaurant, enjoying a meal. Perhaps with friends, perhaps something more romantic. You're enjoying the conversation, and you're enjoying the food. Delicate flavours, maybe a crisp, white wine. Then someone over the other side of the rooms lights a cigarette. For the next ten minutes everything you taste is marred by a thin veneer of tobacco ash. You end up spending money on a meal which doesn't taste as good as it should have, and all because one person can't go for an hour without their drug of choice.

The Scottish Parliament has already announced a ban on smoking in pubs and restaurants, now J.D. Wetherspoons has decided to make that ban nationwide. For me neither ban can come quick enough - I look forward to enjoying the taste of what I'm actually eating and drinking.
